AKIPRESS.COM - Senior Asian Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat entered second day on Monday with Kristina Shermetova grabbing two bronze medals in the women’s 53kg, Laurel international management said.
China’s Wei Chengji confidently won the women’s 53kg. The 23-year-old Chinese swept all three events and lifted 200kg in total to take home three gold medals. Turkmen Kristina Shermetova took advantage, when Vietnam’s Thi My Dung Tran was not able to lift 102kg in three Clean & Jerk attempts and did not manage to reach the podium. Turkmen’s Shermetova set a personal record with 104kg in the Clean & Jerk, and said she did not pay attention to her rivals during the competition: “I did not know she [Tran] missed. I was concentrating on my own performance and did not look at the others.
