New President of Mongolia impresses internet with his shape

AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolia has elected a former wrestler as its president and if these pictures are anything to go by the shape of the country is in firm hands, Metro reported.

Battulga Khaltmaa of the Democratic Party was sworn in on July 11 after narrowly defeating Miyegombo Enkhbold of the Mongolian People’s Party on July 7.

Battulga, a former artist and world champion in the martial art of sambo – a soviet martial art that translates as ‘self-defence without weapon’ – won the country’s first run-off election with 50.6 percent of the vote, narrowly defeating Miyegombo Enkhbold.

Mongolia, with a population of about 3 million, is landlocked between China and Russia.

The election also featured a record number of protest votes with about about 1.5 percent of the registered voters casting a blank ballot in the first round, the Washington Post reported.
