AKIPRESS.COM - Prominent businessman Muratkhan Tokmadi was found guilty of "illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transport or carrying of firearms, basic parts thereof, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices" and sentenced to 3 years in jail in Almaty.
Tokmadi and prosecutor agreed on a plea bargain during pre-trial investigation.
The court agreed with the conditions of the agreement between the defendant and the prosecutor.
Tokmadi, an adviser of the CEO of KazStroiSteklo LLC, was detained by Kazakh security services during the special operation on June 12, 2017 in Almaty. He was detained on suspicion of large scale property extortion. He is suspected of expropriating the shares in two enterprises through threats of violence and extortion.
