The UN Security Council on Monday discussed the situation in Ukraine for the fifth time for ten days. The meeting was held behind closed doors with the participation of Under-Secretary-General for Political AffairsJeffrey Feltman, RIA Novosti reported.
Permanent Representative of France Gerard Aro stressed he believes that peaceful solution to the crisis is possible. Maybe, the meeting was useless but the UN Security Council will try to do everything possible to avoid worsening of the situation, he added.
President of the UN Security Council Sylvie Lucas, in turn, told the reporters a number of UNSC members opposed the referendum in Crimea, which is planned to be held on March 16.
