“Ukraine is ready for transparent negotiations with Russia and for new relations between Ukraine and Russia, in which Russia recognizes the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine and also recognizes Ukraine's European integration ambitions,” said Prime Minister of Ukraine Areseniy Yatsenyuk from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada on March 11.
PM Yatsenyuk noted that a new type of relationship with Russia should mean that “Russia recognizes the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that he will visit the U.S. White House on Wednesday to discuss the situation with Crimea and will have a meeting with President Obama as well.
The Prime Minister recalled that the Western partners have initiated the formation of a contact group, and Ukraine “supports the establishment of this contact group.”
He noted that he was in constant contact with “all the leaders of the EU member states and the U.S. administration,” and also made a second request for a telephone conversation with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. “We are ready to talk with the Russians, but unfortunately they might have other problems and issues, I can not establish contact with either the President or the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation for five days.” he stressed.
“Only the diplomatic and political way is what we see today as the only way out of this situation,” said the Prime Minister.
