Ukraine reduces electricity supplies to Crimea by 50%

AKIPRESS.COM - power supplies Ukrainian national power company Ukrenergo has reduced electricity supplies to Crimea by 50%, Crimea Inform reported citing First Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea Rustam Temirgaliyev.

Crimea is connected with Ukraine through three 330-kW high-voltage power transmission lines. As a result, the Crimean Grid conducted planned blackouts at the peninsula's facilities in accordance with the regulations.

“Currently around 30% of Crimea is de-energized. The situation will become more difficult if Ukraine cuts off the remaining supplies,” Temirgaliyev added. “Still, we have some 900 mobile diesel-generator units throughout the peninsula. They are already working to provide hospitals, pumping stations and state bodies with electricity to coordinate the processes.”

Three thermal and electric power plants of Crimea will run at full capacity. The First Deputy Prime Minister added that major issues will be solved in a month and a half.

“We are preparing to install 9 mobile electrical systems, which generate enough energy. If Kiev continues such policy, we'll spend one and a half months at limited power mode. The situation will ease then,” he noticed.
