Some 90 elementary students at six schools in the northern outskirts of Lima were poisoned by leaked toxic gas, Xinhua reported referring to the Peru's Health Ministry.
Eighty-five students, with symptoms of nausea, vomiting, red eyes, abdominal pains and burning throats, were taken to the nearest medical center.
35 of them suffered from abdominal pain and were taken to Puente Piedra hospital, where they remain under medical observation.
The authorities are still investigating the source and type of the leaked gas.
