Hungary reelects Viktor Orbán as Prime Minister

AKIPRESS.COM - Viktor Orbán With almost all of the votes counted, Hungary has said “Yes” to four more years for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. His party have polled around 45% giving them a projected 133 of the parliament’s 199 seats, Euronews reported.

The Socialist-led left-wing alliance MSZP polled around 27% giving them a possible 38 seats. Leader Mesterházy Attila said Orban’s victory was not a fair win.

“This country is not free, because the ruling majority constantly abused power with its two-third majority, and has led Hungary away from the constitutional way of democracy, and the campaign was organized based on this, they formed the new election rules according to this.”

Far-right party, Jobbik, which stands accused of anti-Semitism is projected to get 23 seats. Not content with polling just above 20% up from 15% in the last elections, the leader, Gabor Vona vowed to battle on.

Jobbik’s result is the strongest for a far-right party in recent EU history, and observers see it as an indication of how similar groups will poll in the European Elections this May.
