The United States defeated Kazakhstan, 16-5, in the final game of the second day of the FINA Intercontinental Women’s Water Polo Tournament on Wednesday at the Riverside Aquatics Complex at RCC, the Press Enterprise said May 21.
Jillian Kraus and Kaleigh Gilchrist led the U.S with three goals apiece, while Colleen O’ Donnell and Caroline Clark each added two.
No one scored multiple goals for Kazakhstan.
In the first game of the day, China defeated Venezuela, 24-6, with help from Lun Song Dong and Sun Yating, who had five goals apiece.
Zhao Zi Han had four goals for China, while Sun Yu Jun added three.
Yineldy Araujo scored three goals for Venezuela and Jeisnaimil Agelvia had two.
In the second game of the day, Canada defeated Japan, 15-6, with help from leading scorers Krystina Alogbo, Monika Eggens and Jolle Bekhazi, who each scored three goals.
Japan’s Tsubasa Mori and Misa Shiga each had two goals.
In the third game of the day, Australia pulled away from Brazil in the second half to win, 9-6.
The Australian offense was led by Gemma Beadsworth, who scored four goals.
Melani Dias led Brazil with three goals, while Izabella Chiappini added two.
