Russia becomes world ice hockey champion

AKIPRESS.COM - 1042312 Russia's ice hockey team has won world championship held in Minsk, Belarus.

In the final match, the Russian squad defeated the Finnish team 5-2, ITAR-TASS reported.

Russia's Sergei Shirokov scored in the 11th minute, Alexander Ovechkin - 28 min, Yevgeny Malkin - 36 min, Danis Zaripov  - 45, and Viktor Tikhonov - 56.

Scorers for the Finnish side were made by Iiro Pakarinen and Olli Palola.

As the agency noted, thus the Russian team have revenged the Finns, to whom they bowed in a quarter-final match at the Sochi Olympics, 1-3.
