Israeli surgeons share expertise in Kazakhstan

AKIPRESS.COM - 42029fbf5036cd3b5c5bc9ca49766ae0 Two Israeli surgeons recently performed minimally invasive laparoscopies and conducted master classes for local doctors in Kazakhstan, the Haaretz said.

The two doctors, Ilya Pinsk and Sofia Gurevich, specialize in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, according to the Kazakh news site. They conducted the operations in the city of Almaty.

"According to the Deputy Chief Surgeon of the local hospital Daniar Amangaliev, the Israeli experts arrived in Almaty to share their expertise," Tengri News reported. "They conducted a series of demonstration operations and shared their knowledge in the field of proctology and gynecology."

Dr. Pinsk is affiliated with Soroka University Medical Center and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Be'er Sheva. Dr. Gurevich is affiliated with Tel Hashomer and works in the Tel Aviv area.

The site noted that the method used by the doctors, which avoids abdominal incisions and reduces recovery time from several weeks to as little as one week, was introduced to Kazakhstan in 1996.

Israel and Kazakhstan, a predominantly Muslim country that used to be part of the Soviet Union, established diplomatic relations in 1992 and have engaged in cooperation in various fields, including military and agriculture.
