Xherdan Shaqiri scored a hat trick for Switzerland, propelling the Swiss to a 3-0 win over Honduras and a ticket to the playoff round.
Honduras possessed the ball 62 percent of the time, and certainly had its chances in the box.
There were innumerable long balls delivered in, but the Swiss fullbacks, perhaps smarting from their previous lashing by the French, always managed to break up the play.
In one instance, Jerry Palacios, the Honduran midfielder, looked like he was interfered with, but a penalty wasn't called.
But the game hinged on the Swiss attack. The forward Josip Drmic looked like a distributing midfielder, and he assisted on two of Shaqiri's goals.
They will now face Argentina in what should be a fast, wide open game.
