AKIPRESS.COM - The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has been granted an observer status at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the EEC press service told BelTA.
“The permanent observer status at WIPO attests to the recognition of the significant contribution of the Eurasian Economic Commission to the matter of intellectual property protection in the Eurasian Economic Union,” the press service noted.
The EEC started cooperating with WIPO in the field of intellectual property after last year's working meeting between EEC Minister of Economy and Financial Policy Timur Suleimenov and WIPO Director General Francis Gurry that outlined the main cooperation areas for the two organizations.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations with 188 member states. It aims to create a balanced and effective international intellectual property system providing remuneration for creative work, stimulating innovations, and contributing to the economic development taking into account the interests of the society.
