Turkmen delegation led by the Minister of Finance participated in the first meeting of the Turkmen-Lithuanian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which was held in Vilnius last week, the press service of the Turkmen foreign ministry said.
Lithuanian side was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevichius.
The agenda of the forum covered a wide range of the issues related to the different areas of bilateral cooperation. Among the main ones, were identified trade-economic, transport and communications, agriculture and food processing, communications and information technology and humanitarian spheres.
During the meeting of the commission, sides informed each other about the latest achievements in the field of economic and social development of the two states and also about ongoing economic reforms in key sectors of the economy. Sides expressed interest in expansion of economic, trade and investment relations, taking into account the broad prospects for diversification of mutually beneficial cooperation.
It was agreed to continue exchanging the experience in the field of maritime transport and port activities, as well as cooperation in the field of transiting and transporting the goods through the ports of both countries. In the framework of the development of the cooperation in humanitarian sphere, commission advised to pay attention to the development of relations in the fields of science, education, sports and tourism.
The sides signed a final protocol at the end of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Lithuanian commission on economic cooperation. By agreement of the parties, the second meeting of the commission will be held in Ashgabat in 2016.
