Kazakhstan will impose a conventional ban on import of petrol and diesel fuel from Russia starting from March 5, Deputy Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev told Kazinform.
"On March 5, we plan to impose a conventional ban on the import of petrol and diesel fuel to Kazakhstan from Russia for 45 days. It is about signing indicative balances with Russia every year. Based on them we can have certain amount of agreed before petroleum products without any duties imposed," Mirzagaliyev said.
He specified that this measure was taken in order to prevent the deficit of fuel products in Kazakhstan.
"Thus, we have approved and will receive 1 million 100 thousand tons of petrol and about 760 thousand tons of diesel fuel. Taking into consideration these figures and actual used amounts we plan to use the ban as a measure of regulation," he added.
He also said that it would not lead to the rise of prices for fuel products. "We will lift the ban in 45 days and then continue to receive fuel products during the year," M. Mirzagaliyev concluded.
