Turkish Airlines plane crash-lands in Nepal due to fog

AKIPRESS.COM - A Turkish Airlines flight skidded off the runway after landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Wednesday morning.

The pilot overshot the runway during an initial attempt to land, before making a second attempt that sent the plane skidding off the tarmac.

No-one was seriously injured, and all 238 people who were on board were safely evacuated.

This is the only international airport in Nepal, so the accident caused all flights in and out of the country to be cancelled, leaving passengers stranded.

Nepal doesn't have the equipment required to move the plane safely and is trying to borrow it from neighbouring India.
