Ashgabat hosts Turkmenistan-Hungary political consultations

AKIPRESS.COM - hungary Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Hungary took place in Ashgabat on June 2.

The delegation of the Hungarian side was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Mr. Laszlo Szabo.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Hungary, noting that political consultations will contribute to the strengthening of political dialogue between Ashgabat and Budapest.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged the views on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Hungary. The parties also have stated the similarity of the positions of Ashgabat and Budapest on various issues of regional and global agenda.

Deputy Head of the Hungarian MFAT marked that his country paid special attention to relations with Turkmenistan, and the two countries have established close ties in many areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation during the last few years.

At the meeting it was noted that in honour of the 20th anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan the International High level Conference will be held and the Turkmen side invited the Hungarian side to actively participate in this forum in December in Ashgabat.

Also during the consultations, the sides discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation in the political, energy, economic, trade, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Participants also exchanged views on holding the first meeting of the Turkmen-Hungarian Intergovernmental commission on trade-economic cooperation.

During the meeting the parties also discussed regional issues, cooperation within the framework of the international organizations as well as the other issues of mutual interest.
