Mongolia, Germany sign scientific cooperation, copper concentrate supply deals

AKIPRESS.COM - Joachim Gauck Mongolia and Germany signed agreements on scientific cooperation and supplying of copper concentrate from Mongolian private entities to Germany during the state visit of German President to Ulaanbaatar.

German President Joachim Gauk met today with Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj. He will visit Kharkhorin city, where an archaeological expedition is taking place under auspices of the presidents of Mongolia and Germany.

Mr Gauk also noted he will get acquainted with the activities of the German Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT), located near Nalaikh city, Mongolia, reports Montsame state news agency.

Mr Gauk said Germany appreciates contribution of President Elbegdorj to the democratic movement in Mongolia. “It is important to strengthen the scientific cooperation between the two countries for the future of the two peoples”, he added.

He went on mentioning the opportunities to enhance the bilateral trade turnover through energy and mining cooperation, and about how Mongolian and German troops are participating shoulder-to-shoulder in the international peacekeeping operations.
