Blast in Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen airport early Wednesday killed one person and wounded another, according to Daily Sabah.
The explosion took place near an aircraft in the apron at 2.15 a.m., Ihlas News Agency reported.
Private-run airline company Pegasus Airlines said the explosion, of which the cause has yet to be determined, occurred in the airport apron.
"Of the airport cleaning staff, Canan Çelik Burgucu, 33, suffered an injury to her hand and Zehra Yamaç, 30, to her head," said the company in a written statement. Yamac was said to be in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries.
The company noted there were no passengers inside the jet bridge or the plane at the time of the incident and that the airport would continue its ordinary operation.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown. The wounded women have been taken to Marmara Research and Application Hospital for treatment.
Security forces in the airport have started an extensive investigation into the incident and taken security measures around Sabiha Gokcen International.
