Azerbaijan has sent humanitarian aid Sunday to earthquake-hit Tajikistan, Azeri Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
"The humanitarian aid worth 800,000 manats ($500,000), which was sent by ferry from Baku International Sea Trade Port, was delivered in 11 aid convoys," said the report.
Aid included 9.5 tons of sugar, 9.5 tons of granulated sugar, 15 tons of rice, three tons of tea, over 16 tons of vegetable oil, 19 tons of flour, 19 tons of macaroni, over 18 tons of vermicelli, 2,000 sets of bed linen, 50 generators, 110 tents, 6,000 square meters of iron slate and 30 cubic meters of boards.
The ceremony of sending the humanitarian aid was attended by Azerbaijan’s deputy minister of emergency situations Faig Taghizade and first secretary of Tajikistan’s embassy in Azerbaijan Salimi Khatloni.
7.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Tajikistan on December 7. The damage from the earthquake was estimated at $3.5 million.
