In the scope of celebrating the Constitution Day on January 13, an official ceremony to present the original version of the Constitution of Mongolia ratified 24 years ago was held in the State Palace this week, the press service of the Parliament reports.
Mongolia adopted its new democratic Constitution and the fourth in its history on January 13, 1992. The original version will be shown to public at the Statehood History Museum until January 15, 2016.
The Constitution of Mongolia adopted on January 13 was amended two times in 1999 and 2001. A draft law to amend the latter Constitution was presented on November 6, 2015 and currently is in the agenda of the plenary session of the State Great Khural (Parliament).
The Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, rights, travel, expression, unalienable rights, government setup, election cycle and other matters. It consists of six chapters and divided into 70 articles. Previous three Constitutions were adopted in 1924, 1940 and 1960.
