AKIPRESS.COM - More than 27 thousand people were employed in Mangistau region in 2015, governor Alik Aidarbayev said.

"In 2015, over 27 thousand people were employed, including 24 thousand people were in the framework of industrial and infrastructure projects," Aidarbayev said.

In general, as the mayor noted, at the end of 2015 labor market indicators got improved. According to him, the number of economically active population increased from 283 thousand people in 2014 to 302 thousand in 2015.

"The number of people employed in economy has also grown by 7% and amounted to 287 thousand people, compared to 269 in 2014. The number of self-employed fell from 20 thousand to 15 thousand people, and their share in the total number of the employed population was only 5%," Aydarbayev said.

"The results have proved the effectiveness of the "Employment Roadmap 2020" program and other state and industry programs," the mayor concluded.
