AKIPRESS.COM - The African giraffes of the Turkmen Museum of Wildlife have given birth to the first baby giraffe. Just one hour after the birth, a newborn two-meter tall baby giraffe rose on his feet and tasted milk. The zoo staff named newborn giraffe Ykhlas, meaning diligent in Turkmen.

According to the zoo staff, Ykhlas is currently kept in a winter house. However, if weather permits, they plan to take the baby giraffe on the first outdoor walk on 7 March in a spacious outdoor enclosure shared by his parents and zebras.

The birth of the baby giraffe is not the only good news in the zoo. The day after this event, leopards of the Turkmen Wildlife Museum gave birth to another baby.
Leopards – two males and two females – were brought to the zoo from the foothills of Kopet Dag in 2010. The baby leopard is now growing and his white fur is gradually changing to the leopard color.

Although the two cubs were born almost at the same time, zoo visitors will see a baby leopard not soon. He still needs to grow and get stronger to be able to live in an outdoor enclosure, reports Turkmenistan.ru.
