The three-day irregular plenary session of the Mongolian Parliament was canceled due to a boycott by members of the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP), reports The UB Post.
The plenary session, initially scheduled to start on March 29, has been already postponed six times due to insufficient attendance by MPs.
The agenda of the irregular session includes a draft law on Mongolia's joining the 1997 Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management.
Signing of the Convention was earlier protested, and the session agenda was altered to include a bill on banning the entry of spent fuel and nuclear and radioactive waste.
Speaker Zandakhuu Enkhbold still urged MPP faction to actively participate in the plenary session, stressing the urgency of the issues on the agenda. On Thursday, he announced that the regular spring session will begin next week.
