Prime Minister of New Zealand John Key has said the United States President would be visiting the island country after his term in office ended, Stuff reported.
Key has returned to New Zealand after visiting Washington D.C. in the U.S. for an international nuclear summit.
While he was there, he had the opportunity to talk to Obama on a personal level. Key reiterated Obama "desperately" wanted to come to New Zealand.
Key said the Obamas would be able to spend more time in the country after exiting the White House.
"He'll stay for a lot longer. I don't know how all of that actually works when he's no longer president... He'd be great for New Zealand, I mean, if you think about where he could go. I mean, he takes the girls and he goes to Queenstown and he goes up North... just purely from a tourism point [of view]," Key said.
Obama will exit the White House in January 2017.
