During a working tour to Dornogobi and Gobisumber provinces, Prime Minister of Mongolia Chimed Saikhanbileg got acquainted with operation of the Shivee-Ovoo coal mine, GoGo reports.
The mine provides 30% of coal consumption of the country and 50% of the Ulaanbaatar's fourth combined heat and power station.
The mine is set to increase the sale of coal by two million tons thanks to commissioning a coal coking plant in 2018. The mine's authorities asked the PM to guarantee its constant operation and assist in resolving the mine's debt to fuel providers.
The mine currently employs 547 workers, whose average salary stands at 1 million 200 thousand togrog (around US$586), according to the authorities. In 2013-2015, the mine underwent technical rehabilitation at own expenses. Since 2012, the mine has not received investment from the government.
Saikhanbileg tasked the mine to formulate their request and submit it to the government for further consideration.
