Kyrgyzstan informs OIC Summit about Kyrgyz-Uzbek border incident

AKIPRESS.COM - OIC Kyrgyzstan's Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldayev informed the Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation about the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border incident.

Minister Abdyldayev said unilateral actions in undefined border areas are inadmissible. He called for resolution of all border issues, including delimitation and demarcation of borders, through talks.

Kyrgyzstan attaches a great importance to cooperation with OIC, supports leaders of OIC member states in their calls for tolerance, transparency, collaborative overcoming of difficulties, Minister Abdyldayev said.

Foreign Minister Abdyldayev thanked the OIC states for supporting Kyrgyzstan's suggestion to include the provision on the Second World Nomad Games and use of natural resources into the Final Communique. Minister Abdyldayev invited officials of all participating countries to attend the Games that will be held from September 3-9 in Issyk-Kul region.

All OIC countries are able to cope with the tasks faced by the Organization, Minister Abdyldayev said and thanked the leaders of Turkey for organization of such important event.

Heads of state, government, Foreign Ministers of 56 member states, country observers, representatives of international organizations are participating in the 13th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul.

State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Sydykov on March 18 handed in the note of protest to Ambassador of Uzbekistan Komil Rashidov with the demand to immediately remove random checkpoints on the Kerben-Ala-Buka road, the Foreign Ministry's press service said.

The note was handed in after Uzbek military set up two random checkpoints on the 20th km of the Kerben-Ala-Buka road, Ala-Buka district, Jalal-Abad region.

Ambassador Rashidov was invited to the Foreign Ministry, where he was told that actions of the Uzbek side may lead to conflict situations among population of border areas of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan and escalate tension on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border.
