Russians recorded their first victory of the Hockey World Championships on Sunday, beating Kazakhstan 6-4 in a morale-boosting win.
The hosts had been disappointingly beaten 3-0 by the Czech Republic in their opening game of the competition, but made amends at the Ice Palace on May 7.
Canada confirmed their status as one of the competition’s frontrunners by hammering Hungary 7-1.
Russia's next game is taking place against Latvia on Monday, reports RT.
