AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov met with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Ashgabat.

The President of Turkmenistan and Defense Minister Shoigu exchanged views on the prospects of Turkmen-Russian cooperation, noting the constructive intergovernmental dialogue, as well as successful cooperation in a multilateral format through the international and regional organizations.

The sides discussed in detail partnership in the sphere of strengthening regional and global security, countering global challenges and threats, including terrorism and extremism.

The President of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the Russian side for providing attention to the Turkmen war veterans for their courage and heroism on the battlefield against fascism, as well as widows of killed soldiers.

The Russian Defense Minister said in turn the Russian Federation treats with the greatest respect the neutral status of Turkmenistan as an important factor in maintaining peace and stability in the region, reports Turkmenistan.ru
