Belarus is currently doing naked work days, after having taken a rather rousing speech made by their President Alexander Lukashenko a little too literally, according to NDTV.
Any head of state, making a speech to his country, would want citizens to hear him out and follow his words to the T, right? But President Lukashenko learned the hard way to be careful what you wish for – or, in his case, urge upon the country.
During his speech at the fifth All-Belarusian People's Assembly, President Lukashenko spoke about innovation, IT-technologies, and privatization among other things. However, his people's key takeaway from the uplifting speech was when he said: "But all our life, simple: it is necessary to undress and work up a sweat," reports a news website in Belarus.
Belarus, eager to prove to their President that they has heard him loud and clear, swung into action and began reporting to work naked. Don't worry, not really – the streets of Belarus aren't filled with naked people carrying laptop bags and briefcases. To be specific, Belarusians have flooded social media with pictures of themselves in office, in the buff.
They've been hashtagging their pictures with #GetNakedAtWork.
Pretty sure President Lukashenko didn't quite mean for this to happen, but at least his citizens are hearing him out.
