PM Jeenbekov to resign when registration of presidential candidates will begin

AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov at the meeting with the youth on August 11 said he will leave his post when registration of presidential candidates will start.

The official registration of the candidates is set for September 1 and will last for 10 days.

Initially, 59 candidates were running for the post of the president.

Out of them, Mukanbaijan Aimanbayev, Kamil Toktobayev, Marta Kydyraliyeva were excluded from the list, as they failed to open election funds within 5 days after filing applications to the Central Election Commission.

Two more candidates — Igor Trofimov and Mirlan Sherikul uulu — did not manage to open election funds and failed the state language proficiency test.

Anvar Sartayev and Nusret Magomedov withdrew their candidacy. The CEC also refused to consider the candidacy of Roman Remnev as he has not yet reached the necessary age for running for president.

On August 10, the candidacy of Sadyr Japarov was withdrawn from the election campaign due to the outstanding conviction.
