First high level talks between Uzbekistan and Turkey held in Ankara after 20-year break

AKIPRESS.COM - Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey started the expanded talks in the framework of Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official visit to Ankara on October 25-26.

The sides as a result of the meeting plan to sign more than 20 documents in various spheres of cooperation.

The Presidents adopted a joint declaration during the talks.

"The high level meeting was held after a 20-year break, therefore, it is of a special importance for us. We held a face-to-face meeting with Mirziyoyev, and then between the delegations. These talks were very fruitful," Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

The sides signed a package of documents on development of cooperation in trade, industrial, banking, investment, tourism, health and other fields.

According to Erdogan, the Turkish Airlines will start regular flights between Istanbul and Samarkand from March 16, 2018.

The Uzbek President, on his part, said that Turkey is a reliable and important partner for Uzbekistan at the international arena. "We are ready to mobilize all efforts to develop a long-term cooperation between the countries," he noted.
