Astana to host a meeting with investors from South Korea

AKIPRESS.COM - Astana will host a meeting with investors from South Korea working in Kazakhstan to discuss improving the business environment in Kazakhstan, Kazakh Invest national company said on Thursday.

Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Invest Saparbek Tuyakbayev and Ambassador of Korea in Kazakhstan Kim Dae-sik met in Astana to discuss the upcoming meeting.

A Kazakh-Korean Business Council meeting will be held in Seoul. “Kazakh Invest” will present priority investment projects, as well as support instruments in accordance with the adopted National Investment Strategy of Kazakhstan, including legislative support measures and administrative support from the side of national company.

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kazakhstan will assist in inviting South Korean companies to the Business Council meeting, said Ambassador Kim Dae-sik.

During the meeting, Saparbek Tuyakbayev and Kim Dae-sik discussed the joint implementation of projects in the field of petrochemistry, medicine, agriculture, etc.

One of the potential joint projects is the construction of an integrated gas chemical complex in the Atyrau region. The interest in this project was expressed by “Hanwha Total Petrochemical” company, which manages a large-scale power and petrochemical plant, consisted of 18 separate factories in South Korea and has 52 branches abroad..

Korea is on the list of 11 priority countries for Kazakhstan in order to attract investment. The inflow of foreign direct investment from Korea to Kazakhstan from 2005 to the first half of 2017 amounted to USD 4,570.7 million.
