New aluminum plant to appear in Tajikistan with support of China

AKIPRESS.COM - The aluminum plant of Tajikistan TALCO will suspend its work for 2 years in connection with the construction of a new joint Tajik-Chinese aluminum plant in the country, the TALCO spokesperson Igor Sattarov reported on March 1.

According to him, the talks on the issue of construction of the new plant are coming to the end.

The agreement on construction of the aluminum plant on the territory of TALCO was reached with the Chinese Yunnan company during the state visit of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to China in late August 2017.

Production capacity of the new plant will be 503,000 tons of aluminum a year.

The cost of the construction is estimated at $1.6 billion, the approximate time for its completion is one years and 8 months.

The new plant will create 1,100 jobs for citizens, Sattarov noted.
