
AKIPRESS.COM - The Dushanbe Declaration has been adopted following the 23rd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on April 17, the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan reported.
The document proposes a further development of cooperation in the sphere of transport, energy, tourism, economy and social sphere, as well as environment.
The session was attended by Vice Prime Minister of Tajikistan Azim Ibrokhim, ECO Secretary General Halil Ibrahim Akca, Foreign Ministers of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Deputy Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and representatives of Pakistan.
The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of implementation of the ECO agreements concluded between the member states, the status of execution of projects and programs of the ECO, cooperation between the ECO Secretariat and the international organizations, activities of specialized agencies and relevant ECO bodies, progress and assessment of implementation of tasks and goals set up by the ECO, adoption of a new ECO program on assistance to Afghanistan and other issues.
