AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 22 received Minister of Defense of Russia Sergey Shoygu, who arrived in Tashkent on working visit, UzA reported.

They discussed a large-scale reforms on modernization of Armed Forces and strengthening of defense capacity of the countries, expansion of military and military technical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, including close partnership between the Defense Ministries, conducting joint events, professional preparations of military officers and others.

Shoygu thanked Mirziyoyev for a warm welcome and conveyed the best wishes on behalf of President Vladimir Putin.

The Russian side said its ready for further expansion of cooperation with Uzbekistan.
