Mongolia, Bhutan discuss ties

AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolian Foreign Minister Damdin Tsogtbaatar met with his Bhutanese counterpart Damcho Dorji on June 12, who is attending Inaugural Intergovernmental Meeting of International Think-Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries in Ulaanbaatar.

During the meeting, Minister D.Tsogtbaatar thanked Mr Damcho Dorji for participating in the event, noting that it is highly significant to cooperate at international and regional levels. Moreover, Minister D.Tsogtbaatar introduced several initiatives of the Ministry to be implemented in near future to Bhutanese side, mentioning that there is a possibility to expand cooperation in tourism sector, Montsame news agency reported.

For his part, Minister Damcho Dorji congratulated Mongolia for inaugurating the International Think Tank for LLDC, noting that Mongolia-Bhutan relations have been intensifying since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 2012. He also added it was significant that Mongolian and Bhutanese Foreign Ministers paid mutual-visits in a short period of time.

Minister Damcho Dorji expressed Bhutan's interest in broadening relations and cooperation with Mongolia in tourism, agriculture, health and cultural sectors.

Dorji was in Mongolia in September 2017.
