Presidents of Turkmenistan, Russia hold meeting in Sochi

AKIPRESS.COM - Russia’s President Vladimir Putin met with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Sochi on August 15, Kremlin reports.

The Turkmen and Russian leaders discussed key issues of developing bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, scientific, educational, cultural and humanitarian areas, as well as major regional issues.

Putin welcomed Berdimuhamedov to Russia and recalled their meeting in the the Caspian Five Summit, which signed the document on a settlement in the Caspian Sea.

"We are working very closely with each other and this work is effective," Putin said.

Berdimuhamedov thanked Putin for the meeting in Sochi.  "I would like to emphasize that our Intergovernmental Commission is working well. We are grateful for the appointment of the new head of the commission because much of what we have planned is being carried out. I believe the work of the new Intergovernmental Commission will produce positive results," he said.

Berdimuhamedov also congratulated Putin on hosting 2018 FIFA World Cup on a high level.
