Nobel Peace Prize: Trump and Kim contenders after peace talks

AKIPRESS.COM - Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un are among the contenders for this year's Nobel Peace Prize following their historic peace talks in June, Sky News reports.

Several prominent organisations are also considered candidates to succeed 2017 winners, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.

The leaders of the two Koreas met for the first time and shook hands on the border, raising hopes for the de-nuclearisation of the peninsula and an end to the Korean War - 65 years after the fighting stopped. However, many remain sceptical that Kim's wish for peace is genuine.

Donald Trump, the Pope and Kim Jong Un are among the contenders for the Nobel Peace Prize.
