Kazakhstan, Singapore discuss ties

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security of Singapore, Akorda press service reports. 

They discussed development of political, trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Singapore, as well as interaction in digitalization sphere.

Noting the friendly nature of bilateral relations, Tokayev spoke about productive talks with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong held on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Union summit in Yerevan in October this year. In addition, the hed of state conveyed his greetings to the President of Singapore Halimah Jacob.

"I used to know her very well when she was the speaker of the Parliament, and I was the Speaker of the Senate. I am very happy that she has become the President of Singapore,” Tokayev said.

In turn, Theo Chee Hean conveyed greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President and Prime Minister of Singapore to the head of state and stressed the intention of his country to continue to strengthen cooperation with Kazakhstan.

Following the meeting, the Singaporean Minister handed over the letter of invitation from President Halimah Jacob to Tokayev to visit Singapore.
