Armenia to increase minimum wage Jan. 1 by 23.64%

AKIPRESS.COM - Armenia’s parliament approved Nov. 19 an increase in the country’s monthly minimum wage to 68,000 Armenian dram (U.S. $142.65) effective Jan. 1, 2020, the country’s National Assembly said in a news release (Armenian), Bloomberg reports.

The increased monthly minimum wage, up 23.64% from the amount of 55,000 Armenian dram (U.S. $115.38) in effect since Jan. 1, 2015, is to be higher than the amount of 63,000 Armenian dram (U.S. $132.16) that had been approved by Armenia’s cabinet June 27 for a vote of the country’s full legislature.

Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union along with Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
