Kazakh PM receives Head of Rosatom State Corporation

AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin met with the Director General of the State Corporation Rosatom Alexey Likhachev, the press service of the PM said.

“Cooperation in the nuclear field occupies an important place in bilateral relations between our countries. Today, joint work is underway in a wide range of areas,” Mamin said.

There are five Kazakh-Russian joint uranium mining enterprises in Kazakhstan: JV Zarechnoye JSC, Karatau LLP, JV Akbastau JSC, JV SMCC LLP, JV Khorasan-U LLP. In 2018, they produced 8,427 tons of uranium (38.8% of the total uranium production in the Republic of Kazakhstan), in 9 months of this year – 6,645.8 tons of uranium.

The sides discussed the implementation of the comprehensive program of Russian-Kazakh cooperation in the field of the peaceful use of atomic energy, including status and prospects of interaction in the field of uranium mining and enrichment, scientific, technical and innovative development, as well as in the IAEA Bank of Low Enriched Uranium.
