Ulaanbaatar city cancels its decision to increase road tax

AKIPRESS.COM - Ulaanbaatar City’s Citizens' Representative Khural convened on December 16, to rediscuss its previous decision to increase Ulaanbaatar city road tax by five times, which caused public protest, Montsame reported.

The discussion resulted in the members' unanimous decision of annulling the City’s Representative Khural’s resolution 29/30 dated December 5.

Now, owners of vehicles in Ulaanbaatar city will pay annual road tax as levied formerly in accordance with a resolution issued in 2013.

The increased amount of road tax was expected to collect around MNT 74 billion to the 2020 Ulaanbaatar city budget. With yesterday’s decision to cancel the road tax raise, around 60 percent of all development works planned next year now cannot be done, reports Ulaanbaatar city Governor’s Office. However, Ulaanbaatar City Mayor S.Amarsaikhan said that the city will reconsider the planned budget expenditure to allow the development works continue.
