Remnants of medieval bath house in Osh need restoration

AKIPRESS.COM - The remnants of the bath house below the Sulaiman-Too Mountain dated to the 9th-10th centuries and considered a valuable archaeological monument needs repair, Turmush reports.

Sulaiman-Too Museum Deputy Director Hairullo Ubaidullaev said the funding for repair was asked from various government agencies.

“Last time the restoration works of the bath house were carried out in 2000 on occasion of the 3,000th anniversary of Osh. Two months ago we sent a letter to the Designing Institute. To develop a plan of rehabilitation, 140,000 soms are needed. Historians, chemists, archaeologists will work on the plan. Restoration will take 1-2 years,” Ubaidullaev said.

The construction techniques, diversity of used materials make the bath house a unique and underestimated monument. The stoves, pool, baths with decorations and the foundation remained. Pottery and glass dishes, glass vessels and coins were found during the digs, he said.
