Kazakh Foreign Ministry confirms incident with embassy worker on Kyrgyz border

AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan on January 11 confirmed the incident with the worker of the Embassy of Kazakhstan happened on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.

The incident with administrative and technical staff member of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Kyrgyzstan occurred on January 10 on the Ak-Jol-Avtodorozhnyi border crossing point.

"The circumstances of the incident are being investigated in cooperation with Kyrgyz authorities. Our worker stays at home," Kazakh Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Aibek Smadiyarov said.

An eyewitness reported earlier that a worker of the Embassy of Kazakhstan was detained over the attempt to assist a citizen of Kazakhstan to cross the border illegally.

"A worker of the embassy and a citizen of Kazakhstan, who was probably wanted by Kyrgyz law enforcement agencies, were inside the car with diplomatic plates," the eyewitness said.
