Life in rural Kyrgyzstan: Despite low pay young man loves his job of curing children with palsy

AKIPRESS.COM - Maksat Arymbayev of Teplokluchenka village, Ak-Suu district, Issyk-Kul region, works in children’s rehabilitation center.

He massages children with palsy. He loves his job despite he is paid 10,000 soms (around $142) and lives in the village where mobile communication is unavailable.

“I graduated from the medical college in Karakol and obtained a diploma of paramedic. Then I received training in physical therapy exercises. Since 2013 I have been working at the children’s rehabilitation center of Ak-Suu district,” Maksat said.

“Children with palsy get rehabilitation here. They need to visit the center 2 times a year. They take baths in balnearies. Then I massage them. My colleagues and I try to cure the children who can’t walk themselves. We want our children to walk at least with crutches,” Maksat added.
