Euro 2020 is postponed to 2021

AKIPRESS.COM - UEFA directors have deceived to move Euro 2020 to 2021, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Marca reports.

Directors discussed a number of matters vie a videoconference on Tuesday and the summer's international tournament was high on the agenda.

It's not only being postponed because of uncertainty over whether the outbreak will be contained by June, but also because leagues and other competitions may need to use the summer months to finish their competitions.

Moving the European Championship to 2021 does present some other problems, given that FIFA had planned to hold their new 24-team Club World Cup next summer, yet a solution is expected to be reached between FIFA and UEFA.

The plan is also for the tournament to be organised with the same format and across 12 cities when it is eventually held.
