Kazakhstan to buy medicines from Russia and India

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan will buy medical drugs from Russia and India to address the country's shortage. Local pharmaceutical companies will increase production, Minister of Health Aleksey Tsoy told a press briefing on July 9, vlast.kz reports.

“Two planes will arrive in Russia today, so our pharmacies can buy needed for market medicines. Tomorrow we will send a plane to India. We’ll buy key drugs there,” Tsoy said and noted that they include Cefixime, Ibuprophenum, Ceftriaxonum, Heparinum.

The Minister said that domestic drug producers work in 3 shifts operating in full capacity. The government provides support for private business to meet the domestic demand for medicines.

Vice Minister Ludmila Burabekova explained why Qatar’s humanitarian aid with drugs and personal protective gear that arrived in May remain at store house of SK-Pharmazia for 2 months.

“We’ve received humanitarian aid from Qatar. It includes personal protective gear such as masks, glasses, overshoes. The products arrived in Kazakhstan without documents of quality, so we had to confirm them with Qatar. That’s why the aid remains at private distributor’s storage houses. We’ll send it to healthcare organizations in nearest future,” she said.
