AKIPRESS.COM - Canada congratulates the Kyrgyz people for exercising their democratic rights in the early presidential elections on January 10, the Embassy of Canada said.

"Canada notes the outcome of the election and looks forward to working with newly elected President Japarov on strengthening our bilateral and multilateral cooperation," the statement added.

"We call on the new Kyrgyz leadership to respect the rule of law to protect individual rights and to maintain a transparent and fair business environment that attracts international investment to Kyrgyzstan," the statement concluded.
