Mongolian scholars developing diagnostic tool to detect coronavirus in saliva sample

AKIPRESS.COM - Scholars of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS) are working to develop a new PCR test kit to detect antibodies against SARS-Cov-2 in saliva sample and introduce it into use, Montsame reports.

Minister of Health S.Enkhbold and State Secretary of the Health Ministry Ts.Erdembileg today received representatives of the project team.

The scholars launched the project in December 2020 and intend to complete it in March 2021. The project team is comprised of over 10 scholars and instructors from the MNUMS led by Doctor of Medical Science, Associate Professor D.Nyambayar and PhD, Academician G.Boldbaatar.

Highlighting that the Ministry will support any scientific works being carried out by scholars, the Health Minister pledged to provide all round support to the project team.

With successful realization of the project, it will ease current method to get COVID-19 test, detecting the virus in saliva sample.
